Taal Volcano logs surge in quakes, tremors in November

LUCENA CITY – Volcanic earthquakes and tremors continue to shake Taal Volcano in Batangas province, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported on Sunday morning. In its latest bulletin, Phivolcs said Taal registered 56 volcanic earthquakes and 26 volcanic tremor episodes over the past 48 hours. From November 1 to 30, the volcano logged 514 volcanic earthquakes and 98 tremors — exceeding October’s 367 quakes and 69 tremors, and significantly higher than September’s 189 quakes and 129 tremors.
