Pandi, Bulacan execs pool salaries to aid transpo workers

PANDI, Bulacan—The mayor and nine councilors of this municipality pooled their monthly salary for March and April and raised more than P1.5 million which was used to purchase 10-kilo packs of rice for distribution to 4,000 transportation sector workers. The intended recipients are tricycle, jeepney and transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers whose incomes are being squeezed by skyrocketing fuel prices due to the already month-long crisis in the Middle East.  The salaries of Mayor Enrico Roque and nine councilors were pooled for the relief drive.
